Post Game Report : Game 7 vs B Team (Oct 25 2008)
A little late, so it will be brief. 5-3 over the B Team in a game that saw a few lead changes. Brad survived a collision that could have made for a long year. Everyone had a good game which was nice to see. Again, Giz continues to trip over the blueline at least once during the game. It's becoming a good luck charm for us. Please continue! A special thank-you to our fans for showing up! Lynn, Amber, Naomi and sister!! We could really hear you on Saturday and believe me, it helps!! Thanks to Marc for not showing up, with the speed that team had, he wouldn't have kept up. Hope you enjoyed your dinner party! Ron, showing up 2 minutes before the 3rd period, you're getting better! Saturday we play at NESS at 9:45 against the Saints with first place on the line. Pack your lunch bucket boys, it's time to go to work! See you all there!!

Post Game Report : Game 6 vs Kunze (Oct 18 2008)
An 8-0 shutout for Brad over the Kunze. A really close contest until they dropped the puck. To start with no goalie
for about 4 minutes, have a goalie (loose term for him) show up and wish he didn't, is very rare in these parts.
I know it's unsettling as a team not to have your starting goaltender, they played better than an 8-0 loss.
Although we were generally outplayed for much of the first period, we seemed to eek some past the man they
called "Weak McWeak". We woke up in the 2nd and 3rd periods, dominating much of the play.
Their continual trips to the penalty box didn't do them any favors. We capitalized enough to
demoralize them into submission. We continue our win one, tie one streak. The one loss being a
blip on the radar. So, we now sit at 3-1-2. Hard to believe we're 6 games in already, time is flying by.
We'll continue the march to playoffs this Saturday at 10:15 p.m. in Chestermere against the coveted B Team.

Post Game Report : Game 4 vs Wildcats (Sept 30 2008)
An 8-1 drubbing of the Wilcats, a team that seemed listless for the last 2 periods of the contest. Hard to
believe, considering we appeared like the Keystone cops for the first 2 periods, the way EVERYONE was fighting
the puck. Oh well, a win never the less. Cam Wong continues his scoring prowess to open things up (what have I
done wrong in life?). Yarwood with three, Reid with the vaunted dipper from inside the blueline. Evan with a couple,
Marc rounding out the scoring. Good supporting cast who didn't get the proper recognition on the scoresheet.
Andrew should have received 2 assists which they gave to a fan and the zamboni driver. My Gretzkyrian pass to
Yarwood went un-noticed on the scoresheet. Stupid refs! Lol Not bitter, not bitter at all! Right Zeb? Nice to
have the little soldier Ruijrok back in the lineup. Apparently playing too much golf as his slapshops continue
to go higher than his 56 degree wedge. Need to keep our heads up again on the bench with him back. Giz, great
effort all night although it doesn't show on the scoresheet. Only tripped on one blueline, NICE! Yes, Kelvin got
an assist, I'm sure EVERYONE in the rink was made aware of that. Ron, well, you made it before the 3rd period,
Evan too! Jason, I got nothin'...Jeff, same except you got my assist which I'm not bitter about...grrrrrrrr!
Next game is Saturday, Oct.11 at 8:45 in Chestermere! THAT'S CHESTERMERE!! See you all there!

Post Game Report : Game 3 vs Knights (Sept 25 2008)
A 3-3 tie against the Knights in a well played affair.
With Jason "Chowder" Harris using his freakin lazer
beam tip to beat Brad late in the 3rd, it was Jeff Simmons
to the rescue to even it back up on a gritty effort before
time expired. Now, although there was a rumour quickly
spreading that Jay received a handsome bribe from the
Knights captain, John Norrish, the lie detector test
given this morning only dispells that rumour. It was decided
that Jason's mentality is to score at all costs, even if it's
on his own team. Nice goal, but we need to talk! Missing some
key players was a good test for us early in this season. It proves
it is a team game and the grinders played very well. If
Marc "How do I look?" Francescangeli scored on half of his
glorious opportunities, it wouldn't even have been close.
Enjoy the 4th line Marc! Nice goal Zeb!! I heard several times
after the game and I am one of them, that was a fun game. 2 teams
playing hard but keeping the crap to a minimum. The way it should be.
Everyone played well and with purpose. Kudo's to Brad for having
a spectacular game even though he was under the weather,
or... something along those lines... ahem. Anyways, great game
everyone and we'll see you all next Tuesday, 10:45 at NESS. Until then, have a great weekend, you all deserve it!

Post Game Report : Game 2 vs Lazers II (Sept 20 2008)
Well, not much to say after Saturday's loss to the Lazers 2.
We failed to show up in the first period to go down 4 quick
goals, stunning the local fans. A better 2nd and 3rd periods
to draw close a couple of times only to get thwarted by a team
that plays positional very well, and took advantage of the open
slot all night long. Our 4 defensemen had a good, solid game
considering the final score. They seemed to be left to scrap it
out without much backup help. Our passing continues to be an
issue but hopefully once we get some of the rust off it will
improve. Getting out of our zone is hurting us as well, passing
being a part of that too. It was good to see as usual, nobody
gave up as that is a huge part of this team. Lot's of heart to
the wire. We will get better, no doubt in my mind. The perils of
not playing summer I guess. Next game is Thursday at 9:30 at the
Northeast Sportsplex, NESS to most of us. :-) We are playing our
nemesis, the Knights, who will be pumped up and ready to play.
Hopefully we will be too!! See you then!

Post Game Report : Game 1 vs Saints (Sept 11 2008)
"YOU CAN PUT IT IN THE WIN COLUMN!!!" A great start to the year, a 5-3 win over the Saints. Now if we can get everyone on the same page as to where the games are at, we'd be laughing! Evan, "I broke a chair choking chickens" Shandro, thought the game was in another hood on the other side of the city. Would have been nice to see you out there, but I understand your confusion between NESS and Bowness (I hope you don't budget your company's money). Ron "I'll go wherever my Jag takes me!" Maurice, thankfully called Zeb to tell him he'd be late (like you'd ever be on time?), was on his way to Chestermere, because apparently the 3 emails I sent didn't quite explain the location well enough. Says a lot about lawyers, doesn't it? Lol
Aside from that, a well played game for the most part. We still live with the second period brain farts that have plagued us as long as Marc has had an anchor up his a$$. (You should probably get that removed so you could beat Cam to a puck.) Nice composure in the third period, we didn't let things get away from us. We relenquished the lead only once in the game during the second period, but true to Bruins hockey, we had a solid third. Nice job everyone and a thank-you to Todd and Chris for helping out, it was much appreciated! Our next, venture, is Saturday at 10:15 at Thorncliffe (NOT THORNHILL!!!), 5600 Center St. N. 9:45 for Ron (take Chestermere west on the #1 highway, all the way to Center street, turn north to 56 st). Post Game Report : Exhibition vs Saints (Sept 04 2008)
Well the first one is out of the way. It seems like the consensus around the room after
the game was that the pace was a little faster than we were expecting for the first game
of the year. From the final score it appears that we gave the Saints something to think
about. However they did lead a late charge with just over a minute left in the game to catch
up from a two goal deficit, that left some of us wondering who the real Saints were. Now that
they are in our division are we going to see the team that can score two in less than a minute
or the team that we played against for the rest of the game?
On a bright note we got some secondary scoring on our first game of the year, lets keep that up.
Our first goal was off my stick but only made possible due to the fact that all I could see in front
of the net was Rob "The Wall" Reid. Graham "ooohhh thats gonna hurt tomorrow" Yarwood potted our
second goal of the night in his typical through the air fashion. Cam "Your crease=My home" Wong
gave us our first go ahead goal of the game with two hands on the stick and a "
hair" trigger.
Then Andrew "Ping Pong" Cochrane put us up by two with 1:45 remaining. Game over you say? Two goal
lead with less than two minutes? Obviously you have never seen Bruins hockey. With a combination
a couple of bad bounces and a "clearing attempt" (pronouced "pass") from our elustrius goalie to
their blueliner, they erased our two goal lead in a ten second span.
We now have the pleasure of facing the Saints again on Thursday night in a regular season game.
Lets see if we can right the wrong from last game and welcome them to our Division in style.

Re-cap of the First 6 games of the Year!!!!!!!
Well boys, its the start of a new year, and were slowing down on the post game reports even more
things will hopefully pick up from now on! We have gone through some ups and downs as a team already, and welcomed in some new names to our illustrious history. We would like to take this moment to welcome Jeff Simmons to the team as well as welcome back some veterans to the line-up in Rick Corrigan and Rob Reid. We also had the pleasure of welcoming a new sniper in Evan Shandro, only to find out that in the first game of the year, his hand is as indestructible as a number two pencil! With a season ending injury to the rookie, we have not faltered, getting a huge offensive output by Rob Reid to start the year, as well as unlikely performances from players such as Kelvin I scored!! Berrouard, filling the gaps in the scoring department. We also have added a few spares in Rob Willson and Neil Hansen, hopefully a couple of people that wont let us down like spares in the past
..not a good start Willson, not a good start!!!!
We are off to a great start with a 5-1 record, unfortunately proving to ourselves that we still cant beat the worst teams in the league! On a good note, we are winning, we are first, and were not relinquishing that position all year!!!! This is the year we go to T.O!! Wed like to give a shout out to the new captain hierarchy with Greg relinquishing the thrown after a great run as captain
heres to hoping that Graham look whos in charge now punk Yarwood can handle the reigns of our less than cooperative group!
On an ending note, heres to a great season boys, were looking forward to it, from the pre-game rowdiness accented by the usage of our new smoke machine, to the cheering from the bench from our new mascot Mark look how much back hair I have Franscescangeli, to the post-game celebrations drinking with Gizzmo I drink more in a day than then entire Newfoundland population Drinnan!!! Its going to be a great year, and we hope to see everyone there, every night, enjoying the ride with us!!!!

Regular season summer07 comes to a close
Congrats on the second place finish all.
This means we play the first playoff game Monday Aug 27 @ 7:30
against the Kunze. And more than likely our final game on Wednesday
Aug 29 @ 7:30 vs the Knights.
Its been a great summer with some fantastic additions to the team,
lets finish this thing off in style and take 1st!
Our 2nd season has come to an end, and although we didnt get
to the show, it was fun to be around such a great group of guys
(You too Bajor). With the many ups and downs we experienced this
campaign, one cannot help but wonder how we would have made out
had Graham played goal in 28 more games? Just kidding Brad! You
had a fantastic year and probably kept us respectable in most
losses. D-men, what can I say, the heart is huge! Kelvin has just
signed a contract to be in a commercial with Pinesol floor cleaner,
sliding across a dirty floor in his hockey gear, only to make it
gleem! Too bad Bisson left with a bad taste in his mouth, but
hockey is a team game, and its a lot more than wins and losses,
its about banding together as brothers. Anyone who should know
that should be him, being a former military man and all. We
enjoyed having you and hope you will find that team that will
take you all the way to a championship. Glad we picked up the
likes of Gino and Graham. Quality guys who will always have a
home with the Bruins, but must ask on behalf of some of the guys
if girlfriend sharing is ok

Im an author now, I really am Corboy, glad someone can put
in some of my artistic passes. It was fun playing with you and
Graham this year. Thanks to both of you! Well, its only been
a week and I miss you guys and hockey, but I am truly looking
forward to May 7th when we get to do it all over again. If I
was going to war, I would want all of you beside me to go into
battle with. Truly fantastic men with big hearts that help
keep the kid inside me alive. Thank-you all, its been a pleasure

Post Game Report (Game 29: Mar 4 vs Marauders)
Post Game Report (Game 30: Mar 6 vs Lazers I)
Well it is that time again, time for a season break and to rest up
for summer. Here are a few things we learned in the last two games:
1) The L.O.G. is only applicable up to and including 6 beers.
2) Ron may or may not know what "The Butterfly" is.
3) Brad takes less penalties when he plays out than net.
4) Andrew can score if he gets to the hash marks.
5) Graham can actually play net.
6) Neil has a pretty good point shot.
7) Kelvin really really really wants to be in the post game report.
Game 29 vs the Marauders (6-3 loss) had Ron "Kenny Dryden" Maurice in net.
Now I'm not usually one to go around the 'net fishing for images
for the post game report but when I found one that encompassed
Rons, butterfly, ready position, poke check and glove save stance
all in one image i figured I had to put it in. That being said, for
not having played net in 20 years or so Ron wasn't all that bad.
We have two positives to take away from that game. We were
tied after two periods, which means that our big break down was
in the third for once instead of the second. More importantly we
learned that once you let Andrew know that there is no rule that
states you must shoot as soon as you cross the blue line, he started
to light the lamp like a mad man.
Game 30 vs the Lazers I (5-2 win) was spotlighted by the return to
the pipes of as yet undefeated Graham "I didn't fall down this time" Yarwood.
All in all probably one of our best games as a team all year long.
We had Brad "See I can score too" Robertson potting his first and last two
goals of the year. And since I'm fishing for pictures, one of Brad's
goals may have looked a little like this---->.
Andrew "Hey look I can score" Cochrane, was reminded of the don't
shoot at the blue line strategy during the first intermission and
he proceeded to pot a goal in the second and third period. For
anyone who might be keeping track out there that means that in the
last two games of the year Andrew has 4 goals, that is nearly half
of his entire years output of 10. I just wish we had of told him
a little earlier in the year to hold the puck for a little longer.
There was one other stand out player that worked exceptionally hard
in our last game of the year. And now without further ado it is my
great pleasure to welcome this most deserving player to post game report;
Kelvin "Hot damn I finally made a post game" Berrouard. Kelvins nearly
error free game was punctuated with moments of brilliance. There was a nifty
behind the back D to D pass to start a breakout of our end. Kelvin was
right there standing at the Lazers blue line to keep the play in every chance he could.
He reminded me of a tiny leprauchan guard making sure that the Lazers couldn't
come streaking out of there own end. There was the time
that he stood up the Lazers rush at our blue line that stopped a sure goal.
This last play was partially marred by the questionable hand pass call.
So once again thank Kelvin "Zyuzin" Berrouard for his tireless, thankless effort
all year long, and now shut the f_ck up about not making the post game
report(just kidding buddy).
Despite not making the playoffs I hope you all had a good year, I
know I did. Someone will be making plans for a year end party, and
some exhibition/practice games before we start up the summer league.
Hopefully Cappy will send me a year end wrap up to post for the season.

Post Game Report (Game 28: Feb 25 vs Ice Breakers)
In a first for the Bruins we took a leap of faith and put a forward
between the pipes. Graham "Folded Foot" Yarwood made his first
appearance in the big pads for this game and I think that we were
all presently surprised. After a tense moment in the first minute
when Yarwood ventured out behind the net to retrieve the puck and
ended up flat on his ass, he turned it all around for a fantastic
performance on the night.
The rest of the team managed pretty well in front of the rookie net
minder. Even though we were down for most of the game we came back
from a 2 goal deficit with less than 5 left in the game to force an
overtime period. Despite our miserable overtime record for the
season we were able to put this one in the win column (I can't
believe I just typed that). Marc "Look at me coast from the blue
line" Francescangeli potted the OT winner on a beautiful breakaway
shot. Brad "20 second shift" Robertson had a solid effort playing
outside the crease for only the second time this year, assisting
on one goal and providing necessary support for a couple others.
In his own words at one point in the game "That Plus/Minus just
keeps going up and up". Ron "Early Bird" Maurice banged a couple
of beauty goals by the Ice Breakers puckstop. Zeb "Garbage" Corboy
netted one in classic 'stand on the goal line' fashion after Brad
had two attempts on a breakaway. Gizzmo "L.O.G." Drinnan added a snappy
waterbottle popper from in close to get us 4 goals in regular time
and force the OT.
All in all a good game. Here's to finishing out the season in style
and maybe getting to play heart breaker against the Marauders on Sunday.
Captains Log (Game 25: Feb 8 vs Kunze)
I'm going to start off this post game report on a solemn note.
Brad didn't admit it after the game but I think that I saw him
make another blocker save on purpose. I know this comes as a shock
to most of us, but maybe we can take two positives out of it and
assume that if indeed he has learned how to use that blocker; a. he
won't need to replace his glove every 15 games and b. he might
close up that gaping 5 hole a little more often.
Of course we jest, Brad "Blocker Save" Robertson has done it again
for his new regular season franchise record of two shutouts.
Dr. "Tough Guy" Bajor managed to stay out of the box this game and
we learned that he has some fancy hands when he needs them, with a
nifty saucer pass from behind the net that landed right on the stick
of our newest spare to join the list Ryan "One Game; One Goal" Moon.
The second goal was courtesy of a beauty stretch pass from
Graham "See I can play D too" Yarwood to a streaking Bisson who
slid it by the terrified net minder (At least thats how I remember
it happening, someone correct me if I'm wrong)
We seem to be having a team leader shortage lately. This game
cappy was stricken with a terrible disease, I think he pronounced
it something like slepe or slēp, and one of our lesser known ass.
captains Mark was, well, he was Mark. Hopefully we have some turn
out from the designated fronts of the team for our next game(holding
my breath).
A quick check of the standings today shows that we are only 2 points
out of a playoff spot now. Another win next game could possibly move
us right up into a tie for the final playoff spot.
Captains Log (Game 24: Feb 4 vs Lazers I)
Another one point game. After lighting the lamp only 11 seconds
into the game we were unable to find the back of the net for the
rest. Bisson started and ended off the scoring with
a nifty wraparound after the feed from JO "Jack Off" Ruigrok.
Brad "I made a blocker save" Robertson held us in the game with
the kind of puck stopping ability that we have always expected
from him. We came close to putting the game away with a couple
of posts including one that "Jack Off" banked off my ass with a
wristshot from the point (At least it wasn't a slap shot, thank
god). Dr. showed his mean side with 12 minutes of penalties
with only 1:51 to go in the third. We rode a 1-1 game into over
time until the 2:20 mark when the OT curse of the Bruins took
over and we gave up the winner.
Still only 4 points out of a playoff spot we need to find a
way to get more than one point a game. Next game is an early
one; 11:00 @ NESS vs the Kunze. Two of our next four games are
against teams that are right in front of us in the standings so
we need to find a way to get Dr. to stay out of the box, so that
we can stomp them.

What a crock of shit, apparently they haven't looked at the

with 11 or more points, where as we have 7. Which one of those
teams sounds like there are just relying on the strength of a few.
Hopefully we get to play them again and they will find out what
the Bruins are really made of (i.e. smokes and beer).

Once again on Thursday it is the Night Train. What does that
make? At least 4 games against them this season. Sure the
schedule is not in our favor in this respect
Oh no, 4 games against the Night Train, that must be horrible.
Another quick count on the schedule shows that the Lazers have
played a total of 3, count them 3, game above the division we are
in. Our count is now
11 and one of those games
was against a team that is TWO divisions above us. Lazers Duex
didn't complain a wink when we handed them a 6-0 loss. I guess
its clear who is the brother team and who is the whiny little
sister team of that pair.
Captains Log (Game 23: Jan 28 vs Lazers II)
Today marks a momentous occasion for the 06-07 Bruins. Firstly,
we have started our now annual march towards the playoffs with
our first two game win streak of the season. Secondly, we
managed to hold out and get our oft undervalued goalie his
first shutout of the year. Lastly, and most importantly, we
proved to ourselves that we are able to win when we are missing
such crucial players as Greg Eagle eye pass Alenius and Kelvin
Look at me Im covered in snow
AGAIN Berrouard.
It was arguably the best game we have played this year out
shooting the Lazers Deux by a total of 37 to 21, we cut down
on the shots and quality chances that ShutOut Robertson had
to get himself in front of. Good offence lead by Graham I
brought my whole fam damily Yarwood, with a 4 point (2 goals,
2 assists) night, saw secondary scoring from the deadly Paul
and Paul duo of Bisson and Dr. As well as goals by Ron
GameTime Maurice and Gino I scored with a wristshot???
Ruigrok. Of course we wouldnt have been able to pull of this
victory without Marc Who? and his 3 assist night.
Congrats to Brad for what should have been his second shutout
in a row, if only that ass wasnt so big.
Something that was learned personally during this game is that,
in direct disagreement with the Law Of Gizzmo (from now on to be
know as the L.O.G.), drinking before the game is something that
should be done only as a last resort.
Coming down the stretch and only 4 points out of a playoff spot,
lets keep this streak alive and finish out strong.
Captains Log (Game 22: Jan 21 vs Ice Breakers)
FINALLY, a win!!! Strong goaltending helped in shaking the
losing streak, for a 5-1 victory over the Ice Breakers. Graham
Yarwood with a superb 4 point night helped as well. Scoring
on the first shift of the game, gave the Bruins a lift, never
to look back. A pass to Zebby in the slot from behind the net,
by yours truly, set the tone. A gritty effort by the Ice Breakers
playing with a short bench. They never stopped trying right
to the end. I defintely admire their determination and effort.
Reminds me of the Bruins of last season. Next game is Sunday
at WMP at 6:30 p.m. Although I wont be there, my thoughts
will be. Good luck and keep the drive alive!!
Captains Log (Game 21: Jan 16 vs Roughnecks)
Another loss and the hole gets deeper. A chance to pull even
with the Roughnecks failed falling 4-3 on Tuesday night.
Blowing a 2 goal lead, twice, has left the Bruins further
away from a playoff spot. Im at a loss for words and worry
everyone has given up hope. Hoping we have a better effort
Sunday night in Chestermere at 9:45. See you all there!
Captains Log (Game 20: Jan 9 vs Cripplers)
Overtime for the third straight game and second straight
overtime loss has left the Bruins in desperation mode for the
playoff drive. The team is showing its inability to compete
with even the worst team in the division, the Cripplers.
Leading 2-1 with 3 minutes to go, we managed to cough up the
puck at the most inopportune time and allowed the Cripplers
to walk in and tie the game 2-2. A shot from the right side
in O/T handcuffed Brad to give the Cripplers a 3-2 win. We are
definitely playing down to our opposition and not playing as
a team. Too many times we are getting away from the set lines,
people taking too long of shifts and too much standing around
waiting for someone else to do the work. We have 8 games left
and are now in desperation mode. Who wants to make the playoffs?
We all know we are a better team than we are showing and its
time for everyone to take a good look at themselves in the mirror.
We need to be ready at game time. We need to play solid from
start to finish and we need to want it more than the other team.
I know we can play a hell of a lot better than we have been and
its time for all of us to band together and go out and prove
it. I dont want to go into the summer thinking what if. It
needs to start now or we play out the string and let the other
teams have all the fun. Its all our choices, you decide. Next
game is Tuesday at 9:15 p.m. at NESS. See you all there!
Captains Log (Game 18: Dec 17 vs Conquest)
20 seconds from glory: We played one of our best games of
the season, played with the lead the entire game, only to
have midnight strike with 20 seconds remaining to lift the
Conquest even at 3-3. Nothing settled in overtime. I know
the team feels this was our game and are somewhat disappointed
today, but we should hold our heads high. For the first
time in a long time, we banded together as a team, and played
for each other. No slackers, nobody wanting to let their team
down, focussed on our goal, to go into the break with a win.
Although this didnt happen, I am very proud of how we stuck
together. We can now look ahead to better things in the new
year, playing for a playoff spot with 12 games remaining. I

Captains Log (Game 16: Dec 10 vs Knights)
Captains Log: Rock bottom for the Bruins. We hit an all time low
last night losing 11-3 to the Knights which saw us go down 3-0
in the space of the first 4 minutes. Down 5-0 after 1 was
demoralizing. A spirited 3rd period saw us draw to within 3 but
the Knights pulled away for good scoring 3 quick ones, skating
to an easy route. Nothing more can be said about this one,
except, UGLY! Next game is Sunday, 6:30 at WPM. See you all

Captains Log (Game 14: Nov 26 vs Cripplers)
A .500 week saw a loss to the Crunch on Thursday night
after blowing a 3-2 lead, to lose 4-3. We played well
enough to win, but fizzled in the end in a game that
was ours. Sunday was opposite as we played well enough
to lose, but somehow pulled out a 4-3 win with Andrew
Cochrane getting the winner with a bank shot off the
goalie from behind the net. True Gretzkerian style! Nice!
Shots were dead even in this one, 26-26, with the Cripplers
trying desperately to cherry pick their way to victory. A
good game all in all, as the Cripplers are one of the few
teams who play the game honestly. Kudos to Garnett and crew
as we have had 4 straight games with him reffing with
consistancy and fairness, and not being a jerk! Nice to
see! Next game is Sunday in Chestermere (Red) at 9:45
against the GoldDiggers. See you all there!
Captains Log (Game 12: Nov 18 vs Roughnecks)
Success!! Finally, a solid game has paid off as the Bruins
defeat the Roughnecks 5-2 in a game that saw the return
of Chris Quinlan scoring a goal a two assists. Outshooting
them 38-31 in a game that was close until we finally broke
the game wide open with a couple of huge goals in the third
to put this one away. Three solid lines and Brad shutting
the door resulting in tying the Roughnecks for 4th place
in the division. Definitely a key win as now we play a
division 4 team on Thursday with the game ending on Friday.

Captains Log (Game 11: Nov 14 vs Knights)
Missing our top goal scorer,
Paul Bisson has hurt us the last 2 games. Tuesday night
against the Knights was not only a great game, it was
actually fun to play in. The only downfall was with no
time remaining, no.9 crosschecked Zebby from behind which
brought a bit of a melee. He was cheap shotting people all
night, which was thoroughly discussed after the game. I
feel sorry for the guy next time we play them. Losing 5-4
on a couple of costly mistakes, still leaves us feeling
we are not as bad as our record. Our bend but dont break
defense has allowed a lot of shots, but very few quality
scoring chances. Once we tidy up the few mistakes we continue
to make, we should start getting some Ws. Next game is
Saturday night in Chestermere at 9:30 on the big ice against
the Roughnecks. See you all there!
P.S. Congrats to Ron Maurice on the birth of his new son, born 30 minutes prior to game time on Tuesday. For a guy who is never on time and will probably be late for his own funeral, this kid may have a fighting chance!
Captains Log (Game 10: Nov 11 vs Conquest)
Bruins continue to struggle! Collectively we are playing
pretty good hockey but continue to come up short. Second
period woes continue to haunt us! A 1-1 tie on Saturday
against the Conquest in a hard fought match, which saw moi
potting my first of the year, left us feeling good about
the direction we are heading.
Captains Log (Game 9: Nov 5 vs Knights)
An ugly 8-3 loss to the Knights on a late Sunday night.
The Bruins played like they had rather been in bed than
playing hockey. Kudos to the 11 that braved the late contest.
As a goalie once told me, if Im exprected to show up for
every game, then everybody should be expected to show up for
every game. Good point! Wouldnt we all be pissed if Brad
decided it was too late to play hockey
Hmmm. Things happen,
thats understandable, but when asked the previous week,
nobody said they wouldnt be at the game. If your not going
to show, let us know. Thats why we have spares!! Next game,
Saturday at Chestermere at 9:45 p.m. Hope to see you all there!
Captains Log (Game 8: Oct 29 vs GoldDiggers)
A rough one to start the week. Bruins continue to struggle
with scoring goals, losing 3-1 to the GoldDiggers, with our
lone goal by Cam Iginla. Relatively clean for the first half
of the game before the goons came out of the woodwork. The
last time I looked, HNA is a no contact league. Someone needs
to tell the GoldDiggers there are no scouts in the stands, and
they should learn to respect their opponents who have to go to
work the next day to feed their families. Slamming people into
the boards is going to cause a serious injury one of these days.
Number 3 with his cheap elbows to the head, is going to get
himself messed up sooner than later. I would think when they
play the Knights, its going to end ugly, because they wont
put up with that crap. Speaking of the Knights, we play them
next Sunday, 11:00 p.m. at NESS. Well have to give them a heads
up. See you all there!
Captains Log (Game 7: Oct 22 vs Cripplers)
O/T to decide this one. The Bruins chiseled out a 4-3 OT win
Sunday night over the Cripplers. Graham Yarwood scored with 39
seconds remaining to get the Bruins back in the win column with
Andrew Cochrane setting the stage. Driving the net and getting
a huge rebound, allowed Graham to pick up the loose puck and tuck
the backhand into a gaping net. This was huge as during the game
with the Bruins leading 3-1, Graham got a rebound with a wide
open net to shoot at, let one rip 4 feet left, missing a golden
opportunity to put this one away. That play seemed to inspire
the hapless Cripplers, as they began their comeback in the 3rd
with 2 unanswered goals to force the OT. A solid performance
by Gizzmo Drinnan with 3 goals, and an equally solid performance
by Brad Robertson between the pipes, allowed the Bruins to
stave off defeat. The Bruins have moved into 4th place with
the win, 1 point ahead of the Roughnecks, who have a game in
hand. Next game is Sunday, WMP at 6:30. See you all there!
Captains Log (Game 5: Oct 8 vs LazerII)
Game 5 was a true testament to our defensive play thus far.
Playing Lasers 2 for the second time, we gave up 7 goals on 18
shots, one of the lowest totals in Bruins history. Without the
sevices of Brad Robertson in goal, we fell to the hands of the
Lasers 2, 7-4. A valiant effort by all was not enough to
overcome our shortcoming in goal. AGAIN, for the 3rd week in
a row, we struggle with time keepers. Giving the Lasers 2 a
delay of game penalty to start the game, because they couldnt
find a scoresheet is absured. Then, the Great Garnett, God as
he is known in his own head, asks them to provide a time keeper
out of the crowd. What a joke! The league needs to address the
issue of having this guy in HNA. Noticably better refereeing
so far from the newbies, with their head guy holding them back.
Many complaints from all the teams we meet, something needs to
be done! I will not speak of this again! See you Sunday, 10:45
in Indus.After losing a 7-4 decision to the GoldDiggers on Sunday night, during
yet another Indus game. We bounced back Tuesday night against the Roughnecks
winning 5-4 on a last minute goal by Cam "Clutch" Wong. Our beloved
Captain was missing from the contest with the Roughnecks because of a
lower glutious maximus injury and possible internal shame!!
2 and 2 now people let keep this thing rolling.
Captains Log: Game 2 (Sep 24 vs Lazers II)
Game 2, the return of the Bruins. Back to our winning ways
in a 6-3 triumph over a Lazer 2 squad who left the arena
frustrated by a fine goaltending display put on by Brad, and a
solid defensive effort by all. Although outshot 35-25, many were
not of the dangerous kind. Of the few that were, Brad Coolhand
Luke Robertson showed why he is our franchise player. Robbing a
desperate team with his lightning glove, proved fatal to a group
desperate to show the Lazer 1 team whos better. A night that
lacked post game beer due to the disappearance of our game 1
point leader, Jimmy Dynamite Hannaford, we entered the contest
on a low. No beer??? could be heard all the way in Chestermere.
Fighting the disappointment, we came out with precision passing
and shooting. Cam I got the gout Wong potted his first of
the year on great work by Graham Yarwood to set him up. After
the Lazers tied it up, we once again forged ahead with tallies
from Zeb Corboy and Gizzmo Drinnan to not look back. Andrew
Cochrane, who played a spirited game, scored the winner with a
great wrist shot that actually didnt hit the roof. Gizzmo added
2 more to turn the trick, his first as a Bruin. We head into
week 3 a little banged up, but look forward to continued success
against a new team from Div. 4, Sunday night at 9:15 p.m. in
Indus. See you all there!
Captains Log: Game 1 (Sep 17 vs Knights)
And they're off!!!
Well, another season is upon us, and the Bruins have some new
faces in the lineup. After trading Ryan Mick to Vancouver for
future considerations and a box of hemmroid cream, we welcome
John Ruigrok and Graham Yarwood to the team. Also joining us
fulltime is Ron Maurice who spared last year. Game 1 was a
great start to the year, and gave us a gauge where we stand.
Playing the Knights is always a treat, but beating them is gold.
Unfortunately, we came away with a 4-3 loss in a spirited tilt
that was abnormally clean. Going scoreless in a fast paced first
period showed playing summer league was a good idea. The second
period brought back our old woes of losing concentration for
6-7 minutes resulting in 3 quick goals by the Knights. In
typical Bruin fashion, we didnt give up. Showing composure,
we regrouped and began the comeback. A fine pass to Zebby
streaking to the net, allowed his sure hands to connect for
our first goal. Paul I can score on anyone, except my wife
Bajor, connected for the second goal as the puck found his
tape and he was able to tuck it in. Bisson scored a beauty
for the third goal with his nifty moves that are second to
none. The comeback had us running on all cylinders once again,
until a floater bounced off the glove of Brad finding the
twine and deflating the momentum. Of note, Brad was one and
one with the glove, as he made a glorious glove save minutes
before the fourth goal that preserved the tie for the time
being. Kudos to everyone for showing up and playing with the
zest that we need to have success this season. Game 2 is

PreSeason Pep Talk
Well it is that time again. The Bruins are ready to start their second season. For
most of the team it has been a great learning experience playing in the summer league
that we did. Lets just say its good to play teams that are better than you, it
can only make you better. I think we are all really looking forward to getting back
into our old division and see what we can offer for competition this year.
